We have a washer and dryer. A washer and dryer that we didn't buy or install, and that were installed in a condo that was not built to have a washer and dryer in it. When I first saw it, I kept asking "where is the lint trap?" I was told by a husband of mine who will remain nameless that it didn't have one, because it went out the side and then he showed me this makeshift tube coming out the back and explained how it all worked, and told me that he needed to fix the tube because it wasn't working right (as evidence by the lint/dust EVERYWHERE behind the washer and dryer). It sounded legit. So I did laundry. Our washer is especially tiny so I do a load of laundry everyday, because if I fall behind, it will take me 5 years to catch up. So a few days ago I put a load in the dryer and turned it on and left. I was gone for about an hour, I came back and checked on the laundry and the clothes were still very wet. So they kept going, and I forgot about them, and then several hours later Rick was like "are the clothes STILL drying?" and he checked and they were wet. We spent the next 2 hours taking apart the dryer and trying to figure out what was wrong. In the back of my mind I knew that there was a big ball of lint stuck somewhere in the dryer just waiting to catch on fire. We couldn't find it, and nothing else seemed to be wrong. So we laid our clothes out to dry. The next day I was doing more laundry. I went to take the clothes out of the washer and hang them up to dry but they weren't done washing. So I stood there for a second, then I thought "maybe since I am eye level to the dryer I should stick my head in there and see what I can find" and that is exactly what I did. I found 2 vents in there, 1 that blows the hot air in, and 1 that looked red inside. And that is when I realized the vent pulled out and it was red from the lint from drying our red towels. When I pulled all the lint out, I couldn't believe it hadn't caught on fire before then.

Do you see how gigantic that is compared to my hand? It was like 4 inches thick.
This was all the little pieces left over after I had taken that huge chunk out. The basket in the back is the lint trap that is very well hidden in the dryer.
Thanks house for not burning down.

This is why I pray for the safety of my children, and their spouses each day. The question that we as your loyal blog followers all want answered is:"Do the clothes get dry now?" Answer that and we will all be able to sleep much better at night.
The dryer now quickly and safely dries our clothes. Also, we went back to the guadalajara grill and gave the mariachi their well deserved tip.
As someone who works at a repair shop for major appliances (among other things), let me just say...
Yikes.
Very fortunate it didn't catch fire, though, haha.
#1 I totally agree with your parents!!! I swear that's why our children are protected even in odd circumstances!
#2 Good for you. I bet you're sleeping much better knowing that debt is paid...and who knows, maybe he's sleeping better because he isn't upset about it :)
#3 Yes, yikes indeed!!!
#4 We love you two :)
