Rick and I are finally getting around to putting our Thank You cards together so we can send them out and I will be freed from the guilt of knowing we've been married for almost 6 months and no one has received a "thanks for the toaster!" card yet. Soon that will change. I got everything ready and I grabbed a book off of our shelf so that I could have something hard to write on. I looked at the first name on the list to see the gift and see who it was from. The gift was the book that I was using to write on. I opened it to see if the people who gave it to us had written a message in it. I open it up and what do I find? A crisp $20 bill. Apparently the book and the cash came as a set, and we had no idea. So continuing on with the story, I have this big basket where I have kept all the wedding cards we got. I was looking through them and came across a check for $20 and a $20 gift card to hollywood video. Did we hit the jackpot or what? Also, in the basket of wedding cards were cards from my bridal shower. Everyone was supposed to write down their marriage advice and I would read as I opened the present from them. Allow me to share my favorites.
"Let him whine when he's sick."
"If you're right - don't back down, don't give in, don't compromise, and don't relent."
"Shave your legs."
"Make sure you go on dates still. And if he starts to look a little 'too nice' call my mom." (From my friend...who's dad is gay.)
"If you're going to fight...fight naked!"
